What I Do

What DO I do? Pretty much anything and everything when it comes to websites. I have extensive experience as a designer, producer, programmer, and project manager but really that’s only skimming the surface. I think my real strength is in blending it all together to create online business solutions that are both visually appealing and effective. Understanding business goals and the development life cycle lead to more effective user interfaces that actually provide value. That’s what I do, in a nutshell.

Design

Beyond being visually appealing, an effective design puts a strong emphasis on user experience and satisfying business goals. For over 8 years, I’ve designed stunning websites and user interfaces for enterprises and small businesses, working directly with clients, in collaboration, and leading teams.

Design really starts with understanding the project goals. Once the direction is known, picking the best path is easy. Of course with design that path still involves a firm grasp of color palettes, fonts, spacial context, and graphical wizardry. I’m a Photoshop and Illustrator guru and whether it’s creating brand assets such as logos to back-end user interfaces to full website designs, I’ll add just the right blend of creativity, expertise, and business intelligence.

Interactive Media

From the initial scripting and storyboarding to the design to the development and production, I can create your multimedia experience. Flash demos, flash applications, flash banners, Captivate eLearning, DVDs, video, and more.

Code

Programming, awesome! I enjoy developing solutions and am quite proficient programming in ColdFusion and PHP. My HTML/CSS is also strong and I’ve built out quite a few websites. I’m also comfortable writing my own JavaScript, wielding jQuery, or employing Ajax.

Management

I currently manage the Boise office of Peak Systems, a national website development firm. I’m also a project manager, usually managing several projects at a time. In additional, I manage sales and marketing for our office.

What else?

Here’s a few related things that I used to be good at. If the opportunity presented itself, I could pick one of these back up and dust it off:

  • Painting (acrylic, watercolor, and oil)
  • Sculpture (wax, clay, and bronze mediums)
  • Drawing (illustrations and comic books)
  • .NET desktop application development
  • RPG II
  • Server Administration and Workstation builds
